Introducing an unusual pair of friends: Woody, a delightful Dachshund, and Donald, a sociable duck, who have been bringing joy and laughter to a family in Nottingham with their daily playtime shenanigans.
Their Unique Bond
From his puppyhood days, three-year-old Woody has found great joy in the company of Donald. He eagerly anticipates his play sessions with Donald, positioning himself near Donald’s hutch every morning, marking the beginning of their fun-filled day.
In a video shared on social media by their proud owner, Catherine Smith, the two can be seen sprinting around the patio furniture; Woody leading the race while Donald happily chases behind. No matter how involved in their play, they always manage to skillfully avoid the two black Labradors, Winnie and Boo, best observed as spectators to this spectacle.
Not Just a Temporary Fixture
Donald has been a part of the family for almost 11 years now, sharing his abode with partner Daisy, their duckling, Donald Jr., and numerous other pets including four cats, two tortoises, one hedgehog, and five dogs. However, Donald’s special bond is solely with Woody, disregarding the other four canine members, and even inducing a sense of fear in Ludo, a colossal St Bernard.
The Endearing Play Dynamic
According to Catherine, Woody’s fondness for Donald is more obvious; he even pulls stunts to incite Donald into a chase. Despite their enthusiasm, play sessions are regulated to ensure balance. It appears that Woody’s charm has worked its magic on Donald, providing endless amusement in the Smith household. However, Catherine quips, “Woody loves Donald more than Donald loves Woody.”
Indeed, witnessing Woody and Donald in action is sure to make you question: “Are they a real dog and duck or a canine-avian version of Tom and Jerry?”
