Travel back to the golden days of Motown with the outstanding performance of five students from Baldwin Hills Elementary School. This spectacular performance was part of the school’s annual Motown Revue, where kids don authentic costumes, learn iconic choreography, and perform to the timeless classics of legendary artists such as The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, and more.
Tuning In To The Past
This amazing event is organized by 3rd-grade teacher Malinda Williams, who has a passion for Motown music and hopes to inspire her students to appreciate the natural talent and instruments of the yesteryears. Williams plans this musical extravaganza to give her students an immersive experience of vintage music – the kind that bridges generations.
The Jackson Five Invasion
To the audience’s delight, one year, five boys took on the personas of The Jackson 5. Donned in early 70s attire, the boys set the stage on fire with a performance of "I Want You Back" that sent the crowd into rapturous applause. This is a testament to Williams’s ingenious teaching style, as she tutored the boys – none of whom had prior dance classes – on stage-worthy performance and the art of taking on a character.

This extraordinary staging of the Jackson 5 act has taken the internet by storm, with over 2.5 million views on YouTube. It stands as a wonderful tribute to Williams’ unique approach to teaching her students about music history and the artists who have shaped it.
