Researchers Reveal What Thick Eyebrows Means For Your Personality And It’s Not Great

From year to year, beauty trends have never stayed the same. If you take a peek at the looks from the 1990s to now, you’d be shell shocked to see what the standard of beauty was back then.

Since then, stick thin eyebrows are considered passe and have been replaced with a much bushier replacement. With the help of a good eyebrow pencil, even women who have sparse hair can get in on this stylish look.

However, Miranda Giacomin and Nicholas Rule at the University of Toronto have revealed this relatively new trend is more than just a simple beauty decision.

Their research, which was published in the Journal of Personality, shows that those with thick, well-groomed eyebrows are more likely to have narcissistic personalities.

They conducted an experiment, called the Narcissistic Personality Inventory, where people were shown only the eyebrows of their fellow participants, and had to grade faces of those across the narcissistic spectrum, from those who “showed no narcissistic traits to those who ranked highly.”

Interestingly enough, the majority were able to correctly identify all of the narcissistic participants.

According to the study, those with distinctive eyebrows were more self-centered, based on the score of their test.

“Narcissists may like to make a statement with their brows so to tantalize potential love interests and make an impression,” the study revealed. “The ability to identify dark personality traits at zero-acquaintance provides particular value for avoiding exploitation and manipulation.”

“The increasing incidence of narcissism underscores this value. Fortunately, people can accurately judge others’ narcissism based on how they act, what they say, what they wear, and what their faces look like,” it continued.

Experts suggested those with more prominent, well-groomed brows are more likely to spend more time on their appearance, which is one of the most recognizable traits of a narcissist.

“Narcissists love attention and admiration, and may maintain distinct eyebrows so that they are noticed, recognized, and remembered,” Giacomin said in an interview with Cosmopolitan.
