This emotional meeting wraps up Jeffrey’s nearly 7-decade long journey, bringing him right back to where his life started.
The Journey of Love & Memories
Jeffrey had known about his adoption since he was three, but his birth mother’s profile eluded him. Betty, despite having six more children and a fulfilling life, never forgot that fleeting glimpse of Jeffrey through a hospital window. When her daughter found herself in a similar predicament as her mother’s past, Betty confessed her secret, sparking a family search for Jeffrey and an opportunity to close that chapter of her life. 
The Search: Challenges and Hope
The search wasn’t easy. A longstanding Oregon law had adoption records sealed. After 15 years of frustration and false leads, a 2014 amendment allowing better access to adoption papers lit up a path of hope.
With social media joining the search party, the pieces began joining up. The efforts of the two families finally paid off in an emotional reunion in Newport.

Betty, journeying in from Missouri, and California-based Jeffrey, were surrounded by family members from all corners of the country.
