A heart-tugging reunion just took place in New Jersey, as Sadie, an apprehensive German Shepherd, finally got to see her owner Brian Myers after his stint in the hospital.
"I Chose Her, She Saved Me"
Brian adopted Sadie from the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, NJ, where the skittish female German Shepherd was having a hard time finding a forever home due to being nervous around men. They hit it off straight away, breaking the very barriers that kept Sadie from finding a home. The bond, sealed by trust, patience and lots of tender, love and care, ended up saving Brian’s life.
A Protective Paw
Fast-forward to a few months post-adoption and the pair found a good rhythm, a routine filled with walks and play sessions. One night, however, their lives changed dramatically. Brian had a stroke, rendering him paralyzed on his left side. Unable to reach his phone for help, Brian’s situation seemed dire. This is where Sadie’s intuition stepped in!
Canine Lifesaver
Showing her inherent abilities, Sadie became alert and started barking for help. She refused to leave Brian’s side and even managed to help drag him within the reach of his phone by pulling on his collar. Doctors later said this heroic act by Sadie was vital in saving Brian’s life. Brian benefited not only from the emotional support of our four-legged hero, but also her physical strength and inherent loyalty!
Tearful Reunion
After weeks of hospitalization and rehab, Brian and Sadie were finally reunited. The sight can be summed up in two words – torrents of tears, wagging tails, loving licks, and lots of cuddles!
In the end, it was not just about a man saving a dog, but a dog returning the favor in kind. Brian revealed that adopting Sadie was the best decision he made. They have indeed found a destiny together. Their story is a testimony to the notion that sometimes, our furry friends rescue us right back!
